Undefeated regular season and tournament Champions!!!

October 22, 2007   They did it!  They're the undefeated 2007 Pee Wee Soccer Champions.  Wow, it was an awesome game.  So close.  It was tied 1 to 1 for the last three quarters and we knew that if it went to a shoot-out, the other team probably had the advantage.  But Jackson's team scored on a sensational play with only minutes left, then held off a last minute charge from the other team.  Jackson was a wild man on defense and made some super plays.  They all did, on both sides of the ball.  It's great to see how well they all play together as a unit by the end of the season.  Before drifting off to sleep, Jackson said "Why does it have to end?  The fun things always end."  He had a great team and a great coach and really enjoyed playing this year.  After the game he kept screaming "We Are Champions!!!"  I'm not sure if they ever calmed him down enough to snap a good picture for the paper.  Click here to watch Jackson's celebration dance with his trophies.  He was also happy that his cousin Caleb and family were able to make the late evening trip to Mount Airy for the game.  I had to get the post up tonight because I heard him tell his cousins Wesley and Jesse on the phone to check lifeinmayberry.com for photos from the game.

October 20, 2007. Jackson played the first three quarters on offense and scored his second goal of the season in a 3-0 tournament win.

October 13, 2007. Record 7-0-1  Jackson's team finished the season undefeated and in first place with an exciting 5-3 victory over a fantastic team.    Jackson played goalie for three of the four quarters and defensive midfielder for the other.  It was a very dramatic game and Jackson made some great stops.  He enjoyed playing goalie since he got to see lots of action.  The entire team played excellent and worked well together.

October 8, 2007. Record 6-0-1  Jackson played three of the four quarters on offense and loved it.

October 1, 2007.  Record 5-0-1.  A close game with a final score of 2-1.   They are having a great season and the games have been a lot of fun to watch.  The team has two fantastic players, but as a whole, everyone has improved a lot since the season started.  It seems like everyone on the team has more to contribute each game.  Last night while playing goalie, the other team had a penalty kick on goal.  The ball took off like a rocket toward the upper corner of the goal.  It hit the top cross bar and flew straight into the air.  Jackson said he thought he was going to pass out.  Outside of that and a few other moments, Jackson says being goalie is boring.

September 29, 2007.  Record = 4-0-1 Jackson played the first quarter as goalie, then the final three on offense.  It was a beautiful morning for a soccer game.  It was also another occasion where Ben's practice and Jackson's game started at the same time.

September 24, 2007. Record = 3-0-1  A tough, exciting hard fought 1-1 tie against Shakura Express, the only other undefeated team in the league.  Jackson played defense, midfielder, sat out a quarter and finished as goalie.  Jackson likes offense and goalie, but I think he's a super midfielder.  Going into the half the game was tied.  When Jackson came back in as goalie in the 4th quarter, his team was down 0-1.  It didn't look good, but his team dug deep and scored an awesome goal with less than a minute to play.  It was the best game of the year so far.

September 22, 2007. Record = 3-0 Third win of the season gave Jackson's team a 3-0 record on the year.  The score was 8-3.  Jackson played goalie, offense and defense.

September 15, 2007. Record = 2-0 Second game.

September 12, 2007. Practice

September 10, 2007Record = 1-0 1st Game.  Jackson's team won 5-0 and he scored his first goal ever in a real game.  He played the first half on defense and the second half on offense.  He scored his goal in the third quarter when he found himself in the open field with the ball.  Only one defender stood between him and the goalie.  He made it past the defender with a strong kick, then followed the ball toward the goal.  Jackson later said that his eye twitched when he looked at the goalie, like a cowboy in a western.  His kick made it past the goalie and he jumped high in the air with both hands over his head.

September 8, 2007.  Scrimmage Game.
