Friday, January 31st, 2014. Jackson and I wrapped up
our regular season in the RCC Senior Hoop Boys League with a 60-54 win against a
team that had beaten us twice this season. And Ben decided to stop playing
AAU basketball. Playing with the Stars for the past three seasons has been
a fantastic experience, but with the stress, travel and cost, he decided that he
was okay with backing out of it. I think he will miss his time with his
friends more than the basketball, but they are a great group of boys and I am
sure that he will have no trouble maintaining the friendships.
Thursday, January 30th, 2014. -2 degrees this morning when I left for work. Thought I should document that.
Wednesday, January 29th, 2014. More snow photos
In basketball, Ben's team won the Mayberry
Explosion this past weekend. Jackson has been playing well, as has his
team, even though we are on a bit of a losing streak. In scouts, I gave
kayaking lessons to the cubs on Sunday. Jackson hosted a Hunger Games
event at our cabin, inviting six of his friends. I would say it was a
success. We played Texas Hold Em, watched westerns, ate fried chicken.
Pretty good weekend in my book. Simon won the games, Jackson came in
January 14th, 2014. With the holidays behind us we got back into gear with
basketball and scouts. Ben played in a basketball tournament this past
weekend. His team did not fare very well, but it was their first
tournament after the break and they were playing up an age level. (more
photos here) The night before he won 1st place in his den in the pinewood
derby. His car was fast and he entered the finals tied for second.
His car lost speed though and he did not place in the top three overall this
year. It was a really fun night of racing, I always enjoy it.
