Thursday, January 31st, 2013. Still no snow, but we did get a little ice and 100% made the most of it.  Street skiing, street ice hockey, sledding, go kart donuts and bootlegs, a warm camp fire in the fire pit, roasting marshmallows beside all the sledding kids, the whole neighborhood out having fun, capped it off by roasting a hotdog in the dark over the front yard fire pit while enjoying a Southern Pale Ale. That's all really good stuff. When I pulled out the skis this morning, Ben said "Dad, I think that is a bad idea, you could get hurt." I said "Yeah, probably. But then again, it might just be awesome."

Tuesday, January 22nd, 2013.  Between all the basketball games and practice, we joined our neighbors for another Gingerbread House Demolition.  The kids used paintball, splatmaster, airsoft and bb guns, then finished things off with hammers and golf clubs.  Like Amy said, it gives them a reason to keep building them each year.  Jackson and I also played lots of Ping Pong over the weekend and as a family, we have played many, many games of Apples To Apples since Christmas.  And as a huge milestone event, Amy and I went to the movies Saturday evening, while Jackson watched Ben.  Jackson is now as old as our babysitters have always been, so we thought we would give it a try.  We went to see Silver Linings Playbook and other than maybe being a little bored, the boys did great.  I was very proud of them.  And on Sunday, Ben played soccer with our friends the Banfields and Cookes, while Jackson went to basketball practice in Stuart and Amy hosted her book club at our house.

Wednesday, January 16th, 2013. Jackson continued his streak of playing well.  He went 3 for 3 from 3 point range in Sunday's championship game.  The Prowl won 54-33 against a team that had beat them by 7 the day before.  More photos and notes here.  We have been living in basketball gyms this month and that trend will continue this weekend.  Although Ben and I do have plans to go skiing on Friday with our Cub Scout pack.  Also, Ben missed school on Monday and Tuesday with a stomach bug.  He seems to be feeling better today, hopefully he will have an okay day.

Friday, January 11th, 2013.  Jackson had another good game last night, scoring 14 points for the second game in a row.  Our rec team played a travel game in Copeland.  More photos and details here.

Wednesday, January 9th, 2013.  Jackson and Ben both played basketball games on Saturday and Sunday (7 total), Jackson played a game on Monday with our RCC team, then went to watch two games on Tuesday in Stuart while Ben practiced with his AAU team, Jackson practiced tonight in Woolwine, VA with the Prowl, plays tomorrow night in Copeland, NC with our RCC team, has Friday off, then plays on Saturday in Ft Chiswell while Ben practices and I coach our rec team, then Jackson plays again on Sunday. So from Sat to Sat they will play 11 games, attend 3 practices and watch 2 games. And what are they going to do on their day off? Go to Winston-Salem to exchange Ben's new pair of basketball shoes for a smaller size.
