Monday, September 25th, 2006.  I switched the television channel yesterday morning to the VH1 Top Twenty countdown.  A Red Hot Chili Peppers video was playing.  Jackson said "I kind of like that song, even if a bunch of old guys are singing it.  That one guy without any hair looks really old."  Yeah, I feel kind of old too, now that I realize Flea will be to Jackson what Keith Richards is to me.   You know what makes me feel young though?  The fact that I still jump onto the back of the grocery cart on the way to the car and ride it rather than push it.  I wonder how old I'll have to be before that's not fun anymore?

We had a great time at the fair Friday night with my sisters and dad.  Ben rode the train, drove the jeeps and rode the big yellow slide with his Papa.  Jackson enjoyed some of the fastest rides he's been on to date.  He also rode a couple of rides with a good friend of his that he ran into and won a toy snake with his Aunt Deana and Uncle Martin.  We missed Amy though as she was  attending visitation at the funeral home across the street.

Saturday started early with Jackson's soccer game.  His team posted their second straight 2-0 victory! (photos here) Amy switched her work schedule from Saturday to Sunday so that she could attend her friend's funeral, but that also meant that she was able to go to Jackson's game and cheer for him, which was very nice.  His games coincide with times that she is usually working, so she misses most of them.  Then later in the day, we went to the playground for a potluck dinner with Jackson's karate school.  Because soccer practice falls on the same nights as karate class, Jackson hasn't seen anyone from the dojo in weeks, so he enjoyed getting to play with his friends from there.  After playing for hours, we came home and settled in with a big bowl of popcorn and one of Jackson's favorite movies, HOOT.

Amy had a busy day today.  She and Ben drove to Claudville this morning to pick up my grandmother who had a doctor's appointment back here in town.  Following that, they met me on Main Street for a nice lunch at Barney's before driving my grandmother home.  Amy then scooted back to our house in time to meet Jackson's school bus.   After helping Jackson with his homework , it was off to the soccer field for photographs before the game.  When I arrived at the park shortly after five, we passed the baton, with me staying to watch the game with Ben while Amy went to work.  They played their toughest opponents yet, but managed to make it three straight games without allowing a single goal.  Their 1-0 victory gives them a 3-0 record on the season.
