Friday, August 18th, 2006. Our friends Brooke, Landon and Ella joined Amy and Ben this morning for a walk to Main Street.  They spent lots of time in Mr. Mike's train store before I caught up with them playing with the wagons and bikes in front of the hardware store.  We then went next door to the Blue Bird Diner where the boys ate dinosaur nuggets and ice cream.  Ben stuck with his usual "cherry danilla", while Amy, Landon and Ella went the mint chocolate chip route.  From there Amy and Brooke had a quiet walk back as all the kids were tired.

Tonight we head back to Main Street to see Over The Hedge at the Downtown Cinema.

Update: We had to cancel the movie trip.  After rushing through b*thtime and dinnertime, we were almost ready to go when Jackson pushed a beanbag chair into the middle of the living room floor.  Ben was standing on their little table.  Jackson starts yelling "Jump Ben, Jump!"  So Ben jumps and just like Lucy with Charlie Brown, Jackson yanks the beanbag out of the way before Ben lands on it.  Ben got hurt, not bad, but he did get hurt.  And as much as I wanted to have a quiet night at the movies with the family, there was no way we could let Jackson go out after pulling a stunt like that.  So movie night is cancelled.  And I was really looking forward to it.

Update #2.  Since I wasn't able to shake being grumpy over our fun family night getting cancelled, I decided that an ice cold india pale ale would really help things.  But we didn't have any in the fridge.  Amy doesn't feel well tonight and was trying to rest, so I waited until one minute past the boy's bedtime, then went to the grocery store.  I go in, buy my six pack of Saranac, leave, get in the van, turn the key and ________ nothing.  Nada.  Zilch.  I tried again. and again.  Then popped the hood, got out and stood in front of the van, like I really have a clue why, then close the hood without doing anything and get back in the van.  I called a friend, but before they got there, I punched the dash.  Then tried it again.  Vroooom.  Well, our mini-van doesn't really make a vrooom sound, but you get the idea.  Now I'm back home again, sitting in front of the laptop with my ice cold india pale.

Update #3.  That's right, one last update.  I called my friend Jeff to see if he wanted to go see Talladega Nights.  He was all for it, so we caught the late movie at the cineplex.   It killed me.  I laughed until I cried in at least two parts, the knife in the leg scene and the "Whitesnake Video" scene in the bar.  Very, very funny movie.  That's it, no more updates for today, it's 11:59pm.
