Wednesday, August 9th, 2006. A couple of funny things have happened at our house recently. The first one is that our boys have turned into Full House junkies. You know, the show with Mary Kate and Ashley. Fortunately, I managed to go through the early nineties without seeing a single episode of the show. I was too cool for it back then. But now it's on at our house multiple times a day and I don't mind because I'm not so cool anymore. At least it's super clean, if not super corny. It only took seeing little Michelle saying something cute once for my boys to get hooked. Ben calls the show "Michelle." They can sing the theme song and tell you every character's catch phrase. Classics like Joey's "Cut. It. Out.", Jesse's "Have Mercy!" and Stephanie's "How Rude!" can be heard coming out of my boys' mouths all the time. Thanks to the John Stamos' character, Jackson will no longer let you touch his hair. He says "I have serious hair issues!" Sometimes I can hear Ben in the back seat of the van quietly singing the theme song's intro "What ever happened to pwedictability?"
I'll blame my sister Deana for the second thing. Ben's old favorite song, "So You Had A Bad Day", has now been replaced by Vanilla Ice's "Ice, Ice Baby." He uses a plastic spatula or wisk for a microphone when he sings it. He walks into the kitchen where we keep a cd player and says "I want Ice Ice Baby on!" or "Can you put on Ice Ice Baby? Pease." And he screams if you play any other song. While waiting at Jackson's karate class last night he looked at me and said "Can we go home now and put Ice Ice Baby on." I have to admit that the Queen sample in it is pretty darn catchy. And I'm not saying that if it's on while I'm washing dishes I won't chime in with a "if there's a problem, Yo, I'll solve it, now check out the hook while my dj revolves it", but I honestly don't know if I can think of two more un-cool things than a Bob Saget show and a Vanilla Ice song. But that's how we're rolling at our house these days. Yo, I'm outta here. Word to your mother.
