Friday the 21st.  When my friend Jeff bought his new Mad River 16' Explorer, Jackson and I volunteered to go along for the first test drive on Lovill's Creek Lake.   Jackson and Jeff's son Samuel were both fantastic paddlers.  They didn't stand up or fall out of the canoe or anything.  Jeff and I were very proud of them.

Yesterday was Pajama Day at Jackson's school, something he had looked forward to all year.  And what does he come out of his room wearing?  The Spiderman PJs he wore when he was two.  You should have seen what he looked like standing at the door with his book bag and size 2T pajamas on.  In his mind they were his coolest pajamas, so that was what he wanted to wear to school.  I vetoed the outfit and Amy used her degree in psychology to work out a compromise.; the Spiderman ones he had when he was four, at least they were only one size too small, not four.  The funny thing was that while walking Jackson to his class I saw at least a half dozen other boys in the hall wearing Spiderman pajamas way to small for them.  I wondered if their parents went through the same thing that we did that morning.  Jackson was in an awesome mood and said it was going to be the best school day ever.  And with that kind of build-up, of course he walked right into the cafeteria for breakfast and spilled apple juice all over himself, meaning that he would have to change out of the pajamas and into the extra clothes he leaves at school.  So his best day ever came to a crashing halt and apparently a huge melt-down followed.   Jackson's teacher called Amy to see if she could help him out.  The problem is that Jackson doesn't wear real pajamas anymore.  He sleeps in boxers and t-shirts.  But Amy saved the day by finding a pair of hand-me down Pokemon bottoms that matched his Spidey shirt and zipped up to the school with them.

This morning at shower-time I discovered that our gas hot water heater was broken.  It's the first problem we've had with it in the eight years we've lived here and at first I thought it was going to be a big deal.  But a guy came out, replaced a part and we are already back in business.   This afternoon Amy had a fun surprise visit from her old college roommate Monica who was passing by Mayberry on her way to Roanoke, VA  from Charleston, SC.  Then later in the afternoon Amy had another fun surprise visit, this time from my sister Melanie, Isabelle and Baby Seth.  Well, it was only a surprise to Amy.  Melanie called me last night to see if Amy could watch Seth for an hour this afternoon, but I forgot to tell her.  Lucky for me, Amy was at the house when they got there.  Today was also Earth Day, tonight it's the Spring Fling fundraiser at Jackson's elementary school, and then we wrap things up with Jackson's 7pm Sport Jujitsu class.   Ahhh, and then it's the weekend.  And that hot shower I missed this morning.
