November 22nd, 2005.  Goodbye incredible 10X zoom.  Goodbye dear sweet 6 frame burst.  So long aperture, PASM mode, and rechargeable battery pack.  Today.. my DX6490... fell... from ... the ... mantle... and ....  Well, I changed my mind, I don't want to talk about it right now, so let's just move on...

Amy and Ben met my sister Deanaat my grandmother's house to help her with some of the holiday prep work like addressing invitations and Christmas cards.  Ben loves it at Hama's house, so it was a good day for him.  I'm really looking forward to Thanksgiving dinner at Hama's.  Every other holiday has changed over the years, but not Thanksgiving.  I celebrate it exactly the same now as I did when I was a kid and I've never missed a Thanksgiving at my grandmother's house.

Okay, let's talk about the camera.  It looks like our photos will take a step back for awhile.  I'll miss the burst mode the most.  Here's a tip, if you leave burst mode on all the time, you reduce the chance of someone blinking or having an odd expression on their face, it's not just for action shots you know.   Plus it will make that cool ch, ch, ch, ch sound and you'll feel like you are working for National Geographic.  Another bummer is that one of the main reasons we got the camera was for the Christmas card photo.  We have a bit of a tradition when it comes to our Christmas card and now we'll be right back to using one of our little point and clicks.  I'm trying to be philosophical about it, but the truth of the matter is that I really, really liked having a nice camera, we waited years before we got one, and now I'm bummed that it's gone.  Jackson and I just bought a new case for it Sunday morning.  At least no one was home to hear the word/words that came out of my mouth when it hit the hearth.  They were some I'm pretty sure the kids haven't heard yet.
