August 18, 2005. First off I need to congratulate my cousin Mark and his wife Sue from Charlotte. They had their first child last night, a beautiful baby girl named Autumn Ray Heath. She weighed 7lbs and 4ozs and was 19 1/2 inches long.
My lunch today happened to fall late enough for me to be there with Amy when Jackson got off the school bus. Today he came off in tears, poor little guy. On his first bus trip he was able to pick his seat and we had made a big deal about seeing him wave to us from the window. Today they had assigned seats and because he is the first one off the bus, he had to sit directly behind the driver on the opposite side of the bus. I don't think he had that great of a day and was tired, so the seat on the bus was just the straw that broke the camel's back. He had wanted to eat the school lunch today, but he said they didn't make anything the way he likes it. To make us feel better, Amy called the teacher just to ask how he was doing. She said that Jackson already new almost everything they have went over, as far as numbers and letters go. The teacher asked if he was always so quiet. For anything that results in stickers, he is the first to respond. She said that he plays hard, works hard, and sleeps hard. Jackson has told us that he has been falling asleep at naptime, which is a little strange since he hasn't napped in over a year. But he is getting up earlier and probably working very hard at school. So our impression is that he is behaving very well and being quiet, which is good, but he isn't really enjoying it. We'll see how it goes tomorrow and will be sure to keep you updated. With Jackson starting school, we haven't talked about Ben much lately. Well he is having a blast and getting to have the kind of days that Jackson had with his mom at his age. They made a cake and played and played and played today. And me, following the incident on Jackson's first day of school, I have been laughed at plenty! I'm just hoping that Amy is caught trying to peak in Jackson's classroom window one day so that she can take over the Stalker nickname.
