Wednesday the 17th. Jackson says that he does not like school. But after listening to him talk about his day, it doesn't sound like it was all bad. It's just a longer day than he is used to. It's so hard for Amy and I to not be able to check up on him or talk to his teacher to see how he is doing. I even drove around the block when we saw the kindergarteners go out for recess so that I could at least see if he was playing or moping by himself. The first time by the school, his class wasn't out yet. The next time by, I saw him standing alone sort of bummed out looking. So I made another lap to see what was wrong, this time he was picking out his toy for the blacktop. Okay, needed just one more lap to see if he was finally playing. Well, apparently that was one lap too many because an angry teacher came running out after me. Alas, times have changed and my car making laps around the block was making them nervous. I stopped to explain that I was trying to get a peek at my son on his first day to see how he was doing, but she didn't seem very happy about that either, so I left well enough alone and parked at the house to wait for the bus. We waited outside in the sun and ninety degree heat, melting, video camera and digital camera in hand, for Jackson's bus to drop him off. He was very cute waving out of the window. He did like riding the bus, I think it was his favorite part. Jackson now gets today off and returns on Thursday. I'm sure he will like it better once the routine is established and they start working and playing more.
