August 11, 2005. Sometimes Amy's desserts manage to look as good as they taste, no small feat. Today's photo is a peanut butter pie she made earlier in the week. It looked so nice I had to take a picture of it before I dug in.
And speaking of pictures, Jackson asked one day last week how many pictures we've taken of him. Well, that is hard to say, but we do take a lot of photographs. I mean a whole lot of pictures. Some kid's dad once asked me on the playground when the photos would be in the paper. I had to explain that I was actually just taking photos of my kids playing. I organize our photos by date in monthly folders, so I can tell at a glance that we take somewhere between 1000 and 2000 photos a month, around 1200 most months. A lot of those have been moved to CD or left behind on old hard drives, but even so, I have over 31,000 pics on my current hard drive. Plus we have stacks and stacks of albums from the 35mm cameras. ( We only took about two photos a month before Jackson was born.) So if I had to guess, I would say, 63 months X 1200 photos = 75,600, subtracting the BenBen photos and miscellaneous photographs, there is a very good chance we have over twenty thousand photos of the Jack Man lying around, and that might be a conservative estimate. Wow, that's a lot of photographs considering the entire cabinet of video tape chronicling Jackson's every hiccup during his first three years of life. Ben gets just as many or more photos, but the video camera only comes out on special occasions these days. Yes, neither boy will be the kid that makes funny faces when a camera is pointed at him because they are just too darned used to it happening. That is also what makes the website so handy, it's like a categorized photo album since the best of our photos make it online. I can quickly look to see what Jackson looked like at Ben's age, or look at a gallery, like the zoo or Christmas, to see how the kids have changed over the years. But even with all those photos I haven't managed to follow through on what I think is a totally awesome idea.
