Tuesday
the 8th. Without going into my long primer on digital cameras (think optical
zoom, not mega-pixels), I'll just say that I am a fan of Kodak, at least in my
price range. Although it annoys me that I have to convert their movies
from Quicktime to AVI before I can use them in Windows Movie Maker II. And
if I had enough money to buy a nice 10megapixel/10x optical zoom camera, I would
probably steer toward Canon, Fuji, or Olympus, but I'm straying from the point.
I've settled on Kodak both at the office and at home. So when I decided to
give Amy a carry-around digital camera last spring that she could put in the
back of the stroller on outings with the kids, I found a great deal on a CX6230
(2 megapixel, 3x optical zoom). I've never had a problem with any Kodak
camera, but on this one the battery door cracked, next the LCD stopped working,
and then it stopped working all together. It was still under warranty, but
I procrastinated calling Kodak for months because I just knew I would be on hold
for hours only to hear them tell me I had dropped the camera or had dunked it
under water or something like that. The warranty was about to expire, so I
finally made the call. To my surprise the call only took a few minutes,
they gave me an RMA number, I sent them the camera, and they returned it
promptly, completely repaired. They replaced everything on it and it now
works great. Today's photos were taken with it. So I just
wanted to pass on to anyone that heard me griping about the broken camera that
Kodak is now back in my good graces.
